PRICE OF PEARL SHELL

ANOTHER GRATIFYING ADVANCE

£180 TO £220 PER TON.

Early in August of this year a substantial advance in the price of pearl shell was announced, Broome mother-o'-pearl selling at £162 10s. in London. The Chief Inspector of Pearling now notifies the Colonial Secretary (Mr. H. P. Colebatch) that, according to advices just received of the London sales on October 11, assorted Broome shell realised from £180 to £220 per ton.
