ISLAND HOSPITAL
In the Assembly yesterday the member for Gascoyne (Mr. McDonald) moved that all papers in connection with the inquiry made into the charges against the medical superintendent and the nurse-in-charge at the Dorre Island Hospital be laid upon the table of the House. He said that no mention had been made of the charges against these people when the Minister for Works and a Parliamentary party were at the island in April. The first intimation the superintendent had of the charges was a request that he would send in his resignation, The request of the superintendent and the nurse-ln-charge that tho Press and the public should be admitted to the inquiry that was granted to them, was refused, and the inquiry was held with closed doors. They asked that the greatest publicity should be given to the evidence. After quoting extensively from the evidence, he said that without making any reference to the request for pecuniary amends and the desire and due publicity, he would content himself with submitting the motion. The Honorary Minister promised to lay tha papers upon the table.
