STATE-OWNED SHIPS.

Perth, June 26.

At the meeting of the Fremantle Trades Hall Association last night the question of manning State owned ships with British crews was brought up by a delegate, and it was decided that it be made a recomnmendation to the Government that only British or naturalised British subjects be engaged to work on vessels owned by the State. It was also mentioned that it was a practice of shipping companies to have vessels for the Nor'-West line stock trade fitted in the east. The association resolved to make a request that vessels owned by the Government be fitted for service at Fremantle.
