HIGH OFFICIALS RETIRED.

Perth, Feb. 28.

It is understood the Government intend retiring some prominent officials in the public service. Amongst the alterations so far determined are the retirement of the Under-Secretary for Works, Mr. Stronach; the abolition of the position of Chief Clerk of the Public Works Department (held at present by Mr. Black); the abolition of the position of Chief Clerk of the Colonial Secretary's Department (held by Mr. Ord); the retirement of the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hare; the abolition of the position of Superintendent of Police (held by Mr Lawrence); the retirement of the sheriff, Mr. Burt; the retirement of the Chief Inspector of Factories, Mr. Stevens; the retirement of Mr. Despeissis and the abolition of the office of Commissioner of Tropical Agriculture.
