On March 20-21 extensive damage was done to the tramway and traffic was completely suspended when heavy rain fell in the area. During the closure, lightering was resumed at Cossack with consignees carting by horses and camels and complaining bitterly of delays. Traffic resumed running in September.
Three miles of tramway was deviated in 1912-13 to avoid the marshes with the object of curtailing the damage done in the past by equinoctal tides. During the period, that portion of the line from the Junction to Cossack was removed.
