MUNDA TO PORT HEDLAND IN THE RAIN.
On the night of 16th January, 260 points of rain fell on Mundabullangana, causing a welcome break in the long spell of dry weather which had been experienced. At first it came down very heavily and was accompanied by a high wind, but the wind gradually fell, and the rain steadied, and came down in an even fall for some hours. When daylight came, there was a sight for a Gascoyne man to behold! Water lying everywhere, and the creek at the homestead running strongly. Three miles from the house on the Hedland track, the water was up to the stirrup irons as one rode along, and for miles on either side of the track the country would, as the saying is, "bog a duck."
