LOSS OF THE KOOMBANA.
WAS IT A CALL FOR AID?
Port Darwin, Tuesday.
Caplain Wilson of the s.s. Montara, which arrived this morning from Singapore, reports that a wireless message was received by the Montoro from the steamer Koombana about the date that the unfortunate vessel was lost. The message was not decipherable. All that could be made out with certainty was that the vessel sending the message was the Koombana.
AB notes:
The vessel is not the Montara but the Montoro.
Reports of a possible distress message were later quashed.
