["The Missing Koombana", Broome Chronicle (WA), Saturday 06 April 1912]

ALL HOPE VANISHED.

WRECKAGE FOUND.

MINDEROO ABANDONS THE SEARCH.

It is now practically certain that the loss of the Koombana will have to be added to the long list of disasters in Australian waters. The captain of the Minderoo reports having picked up a smoking-room settee (red cushion), part of cabin drawer, 70 miles west of Bedout, and the bottom boards of a boat with teak panels 50 miles west of Bedout, and has abandoned the search.

Yesterday morning the Premier, in conference with the Chief Harbor Master, decided that the steamer Una be despatched to Bedout Island, where the officers will be landed to make a thorough examination.
