Perth, March 30.
The Premier (Mr. J. Scaddan) received a message from the Prime Minister yesterday stating that if no gunboat were available to join in the search for the Koombana, the Commonwealth trawler Endeavour, which is at present at Port Adelaide, will be made available in less than 24 hours.
The Premier replied, expressing thanks for the offer, but stating that after consultation with Captain Irvine, he was of the opinion that pending the receipt of tidings from the boats now engaged in the search, the despatch of the Endeavor might be postponed two or three days.
The Bullarra reached Broome yesterday and signalled to the lighthouse: "No news of the Koombana." The Bullarra searched Bedout and Turtle Islands.
All day her arrival was anxiously awaited, and, late in the afternoon, when the report of her captain was made known, hope was as good as abandoned.
