KOOMBANA FIVE DAYS OVERDUE.

GRAVE FEARS ENTERTAINED.

NO REPLY TO WIRELESS.

Since setting up the above, the following ominous telegram has been received from Perth:--

"The Adelaide S.S. Company has tested the statement that the R.M.S. Koombana arrived at Derby, via the cable station at Broome, and has received a reply that the Koombana has not been sighted since she left Port Hedland at 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday for Broome. She has not been since heard of, and grave anxiety is felt, since she is five days out. Owing to the complete isolation, the telegraph lines being interrupted, no news has been received from Port Hedland for five days. It is possible the Koombana sought refuge near by or steamed out to sea."

The P. and O. steamer Mongolia is due from Colombo to-day, and it is hoped that she will bring hopeful tidings.
