The Verulam was originally from Newcastle, and has discharged part of a coal cargo at Port Augusta, but having touched the reef in the other gulf, has come on here with portion of the coals on board, on discharge of which the vessel will go on the patent slip for overhaul and repair. This barque first arrived here 25 years ago, and was for a time one of the crack home trade clipper ships. Lapse of years has altered the character of the transport service, but although the Verulam has had a long career of usefulness, there is still some work left in the old craft.
