CUZCO 1871

The CUZCO was built by John Elder & Co, Glasgow in 1871 for the South American service of the Pacific Steam Navigation Co. She was a 3,898 gross ton ship, length 117,09m x beam 12,62m (384.2ft x 41.4ft), clipper stem, one funnel, three masts, iron construction, single screw, with a service speed of 12 knots. There was passenger accommodation for 72-1st, 92-2nd and 265-3rd class. Launched on 18.10.1871, she sailed from Liverpool on her maiden voyage to Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo and Valparaiso on 13.1.1872. In 1877 she was chartered by Anderson, Anderson & Co and sailed from London for Melbourne and Sydney on 25th September 1877. She was bought in 1878 by the Orient Steam Navigation Co and was re-engined in 1888 to give her a service speed of 15 knots.
