Mr. "Bob" Thompson, son of Mr. R. D. Thompson, formerly well known in Kalgoorlie as manager of the Mt. Charlotte G.M., was drowned in the recent cyclone at Roebourne. He was residing in Perth for a few months, when about Christmas the manager of the Whim Well Copper mines offered him a position. He accepted, and went to the district a couple of months ago. His friends in Perth saw his name amongst the list of the missing, and hoped that he might be all right, but on Monday a wire was received that he had been drowned. The sad news came from his brother, Mr. Horace Thompson, who had joined the deceased about a fortnight previously per the Koombana. Mr. "Bob" Thompson was only 24 years of age, and gave great promise of a successful career. His untimely end is regretted by all who knew him, and much sympathy is felt for his relations, who live in Melbourne.
