Survey of the Nor'-West Coast

Dangerous Rock Near Derby

Perth, November 13.

The Fantome arrived at Fremantle on Saturday, en route for Hobart, having completed another period of survey work on the Nor'-West.

Seven hundred square miles of the sea was sounded, and a complete plan of Yampi Sound compiled.

The neighbourhood of Blue Reef was investigated, and a coral reef discovered in the entrance to Zampi Sound.

Between Koolan and Cockatoo Island, in the vicinity of Sunday Island, a rock was located 14 feet below the surface, in the track of the steamers from North to Derby.

The Fantome resumes her voyage to Hobart, where survey operations will be worked out and reported upon. She will then visit Sydney, returning thence to continue the work in the Nor'-West.
