THE YONGALA.
The fate of the Yongala has now been placed beyond all doubt. The discovery on Tuesday of extensive wreckage, including a portion of the panelling of the music-room and a mail bag; made it almost certain the steamer had met with disaster. The local office of the Adelaide Company hold out no hope. There was sufficient evidence forthcoming that dissipated the last hopes of the vessel's safety. The finding of a mail bag indicates to many that the vessel has been totally lost. The mailroom on the Yongala was below deck, and the discovery of the bag so soon would tend to show that the missing steamer had either opened out or broken up.
