A HOAX IN BRISBANE.

"Rescue us!" The Waratah struck and went down. We are on an island Cape Town. There are three of us!"

This is the copy of a message written on a torn slip of light brown paper which was inside a bottle picked up on the beach at Redcliffe on January 28. The bottle was found by Mr. John Laidley, of Teneriffe, New Farm, who was then on a visit to Redcliffe, and who handed it over to the police. The latter regard it as a clumsy attempt at a joke.
