LUND'S BLUE ANCHOR LINE.

STEAMERS ACQUIRED BY THE P. AND 0. CO.

London, January 21.

The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co. has acquired Lund's Blue Anchor line of steamers.

THE NEWS RECEIVED IN SYDNEY.

Sydney, January 21.

A telegram has been received by Mr. Trelawney, the superintendent of the P. and 0. Co., and also by Gilchrist, Watt, and Sanderson, managing agents for the Lund Line, confirming the information cabled as to the purchase of the Lund Line steamers by the P. and 0. Co. Negotiations were completed several days ago, but no information was received as to the intentions of the P. and O. Co. It is surmised that the P. and 0. Co. will continue to conduct the Lund Line of steamers, and that two distinct services will then be maintained, the mail steamers running as at present via the Suez Canal and the steamers of the Lund Line via the Cape.
