Nicol Bay and De Grey.
(By Bucolic.)
...
Some time after being abandoned by Mr. Padbury the homestead with a small block of country was taken up by Messrs. Sholl and disposed of to Messrs. Grant, Anderson & Harper who were wise in their own generation and foresaw a great future for pearl shells. Consequently they took up that pursuit with spirit and, working the natives with judicious tact, were soon in a position to select a large tract of country and stock it with sheep. From that time wool improved in price; stock increased at a rapid rate and the future of the DeGrey country I was no longer a matter of doubt. The station is now one of the best if not the best in Western Australia. Of the property and the system of working it I hope to give you some particulars shortly.,
