Koombana Inspected

Many Interested Visitors

At the invitation of Mr. W. E. Moxon, attorney in W.A. for the Adealide S.S. Co., a number of gentlemen interested in shipping and representatives of the Press, made a visit to the s.s. Koombana today, and inspected this splendid steamer, which has been built for the North-West passenger and cargo traffic. In a few words, the Koombana is the most modernly equipped vessel that has yet come to the port, and her passenger accommodation is a revelation. She is built on beautiful lines and in the arrangement of her saloons and cabins special attention has been paid to the comfort of passengers in a hot climate. There are so many innovations and improvements on the Koombana that space does not permit of our doing them justice in this issue, so we are compelled to hold over a more extended notice until tomorrow. It is interesting to note that the name Koombana is taken from Mr David Forrest's mill property at Bunbury, with which the name of Sir John Forrest is also associated.

The Koombana sailed for Adelaide at 2.15 p.m., and at the latter port she will be docked for the usual overhaul. The Koombana will then return to Fremantle and start on her first trip to the North-West on March 12. Several North-West residents who have been on board state that they will do more travelling now that such a vessel has been provided for the traffic.
